Boomers Drop Fifth Straight

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Cam Aufderheide threw a complete game shutout as the Joliet Slammers tallied a second consecutive shutout of the Schaumburg Boomers, winning 7-0 on Wednesday night at Wintrust Field.

After battling zeroes through the first three with both teams squandering chances to score, Joliet jumped ahead in the top of the fourth without a hit. Consecutive walks opened the frame and following a sacrifice bunt a sacrifice fly put Joliet ahead. The Slammers sent 11 to the plate in the fifth, scoring six runs to break the game open.

Jackson Hickert suffered the loss, working 4.1 innings. Juan Pichardo finished the game with three scoreless innings, striking out four after Aaron Glickstein worked 1.2 frames. The team finished with six hits, two of which came from Travis Holt.

The Boomers (42-30) wrapup the series with Joliet on Thursday with a 12:00pm contest in a Business Day Game presented by All About Personnel. RHP Shumpei Yoshikawa (3-1, 3.57) is the scheduled starter for the Boomers while Joliet is slated to send Al-Star LHP Cole Cook (7-2, 1.90).
