Boomers Sweep Wild Things

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers completed a season opening sweep by logging a 6-3 win in Pennsylvania over the Washington Wild Things on Sunday.

The Boomers did not trail in the contest, scoring three runs in the top of the third. Tyler Depreta-Johnson and Chase Dawson opened the inning with back-to-back singles and Dawson scored the first run on a wild pitch. Alec Craig homered to right to push the lead to 3-0. Washington homered in the bottom of the inning to draw within 3-1. Both teams scored runs in the sixth with Felix Aberouette tallying an RBI single in the top half. Two runs in the eighth allowed the team to account for the final.

Returner Jackson Hickert tossed six innings in the win, becoming the first starter to earn a decision this year. The righty allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Jacob Smith and Mitch White both made their season debuts on the mound and Dallas Woolfolk worked the ninth to log his first save.

The offense finished with 11 hits in the win. Craig logged three to go with three RBIs. Dawson and Depreta-Johnson both totaled two hits while scoring twice.
