Boomers Sign Local Infielder

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers have signed infielder Cole Nelson for the 2026 season.

Nelson, a native of St. Charles, Illinois, spent the 2025 season at Lewis University where he hit .326 with 12 home runs, 47 RBIs and a 1.028 OPS across 55 games. He also added 12 doubles and three triples while helping lead the Flyers offensively.

Prior to Lewis, Nelson played two seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Across three collegiate seasons, the infielder compiled a .297 batting average with 13 home runs and 62 RBIs in 132 career games. Defensively, Nelson has experience across the infield, primarily at third base and shortstop.
