Boomers Sign RHP Zaffiro

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers have signed right-handed pitcher Cole Zaffiro for the 2026 season.

Zaffiro joins the Boomers after spending time in the New York Yankees organization in 2025, appearing in 23 games with the Florida Complex League Yankees. Over 38.2 innings, he recorded 36 strikeouts.

A native of Manhasset, New York, Zaffiro pitched collegiately at the University of Pennsylvania and Wake Forest University. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 37 games, including 31 starts, and posted a 4.00 ERA across 198.0 innings while striking out 225 batters.

In 2023, Zaffiro turned in one of his strongest collegiate seasons at Penn, going 6-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 72.0 innings. He followed that performance with another solid campaign in 2024, posting a 4.94 ERA while striking out 90 batters over 74.2 innings.

The 24-year-old brings both collegiate and professional experience to the Boomers pitching staff as the club continues to add depth ahead of the 2026 season.
