PEARL, Miss. — The Schaumburg Boomers used a pair of six-run innings to open August with a fourth win in the series against the Mississippi Mud Monsters on the road Saturday night by a 15-5 final.

Mississippi grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Boomers stormed back with six in the second including five with two outs. Christian Fedko tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Cole Smith recorded an RBI single to put the Boomers ahead. Anthony Calarco spanked a two-run double before Mississippi native Kellum Clark notched a two-run homer, his second in as many nights. Mississippi used single runs in the second, third and fourth to draw within 6-4 before another big inning, a six-run fifth. Jeff Nicol blasted a two-run homer to open the scoring in the frame, his second homer of the series. Banks Tolley also posted an RBI single in the inning as the Boomers led 12-4. Holding a 12-5 edge, Schaumburg finished the scoring with three in the seventh. Will Prater lifted a sacrifice fly and Nicol added a two-run double in the frame.

Ross Thompson was the beneficiary of the run support, working five innings to earn his eighth win of the season. Tanner Shears, Kyle Moore and Aaron Glickstein also saw time on the hill. The Boomers finished with 15 hits in the win and also drew 11 walks. Schaumburg has walked 46 times in the first five games of the six-game series. Tolley and Clark, both Mississippi natives, tallied three hits apiece. All nine members of the lineup reached base at least once. Nicol finished with four RBIs.

The Boomers (39-32) will wrap up the six-game series on Saturday night at 6:01pm. LHP Cole Cook (6-6, 4.69) will take the ball in the series finale.
