SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Kellum Clark coaxed a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap a wild finish as the Schaumburg Boomers returned home from a nine-game roadtrip to the largest crowd in franchise history (8,203) and celebrated a 7-6 victory over the Mississippi Mud Monsters on Friday night.

Playing each other for the seventh time in 10 days, Mississippi opened a 4-0 lead in the game on a solo homer from Trey Bridges in the third before recording five straight hits in the fourth. Banks Tolley put the Boomers on the board with his seventh homer of the season in the bottom of the fourth. Alex Calarco homered in the fifth to make the score 4-2. Kyle Fitzgerald drew the Boomers within a run by recording an RBI single in the sixth. The Boomers stranded the tying run at third in the sixth and seventh but broke through in the eighth. Alex Calarco connected on a three-run go-ahead homer, sending a line drive over the wall in right for his second homer of the night. Mississippi was able to tie the score with two runs in the top of the ninth, but the Boomers drew four walks in the ninth to celebrate.

Schaumburg drew eight walks in the game and finished with seven hits in the victory. Ross Thompson threw seven innings on the mound and exited after retiring 11 straight. Thompson did not walk a batter and struck out four. Holland Townes worked the eighth and Aaron Glickstein pitched the ninth to earn the win. Calarco finished with two homers and four RBIs. The win was the third in walk-off fashion this season and the second against Mississippi.

The Boomers (41-35) continue the loaded weekend on Saturday night at 6:30pm with Seinfeld Night. Seinfeld Bobbleheads will be handed out to the first 1,500 fans courtesy of McNally’s Heating & Cooling. The evening will also feature postgame fireworks.
