LHP Darrell Thompson Returns
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers have signed left-handed pitcher Darrell Thompson to the roster.
Thompson returns to Schaumburg after previously spending parts of four seasons with the Boomers from 2018-22. During his time with the organization, the left-hander appeared in 138 games and compiled a 13-3 record.
Thompson was a key member of the Boomers’ bullpen during back-to-back trips to the Frontier League Championship Series. He helped Schaumburg capture the 2021 Frontier League Championship before helping the club return to the championship series in 2022.
Thompson enjoyed a dominant season out of the bullpen in 2022, posting a 1.43 ERA in 45 appearances. He finished the season with a 2-1 record and 17 saves while allowing just eight earned runs over 50.1 innings.
In 2021, Thompson appeared in 21 games for Schaumburg, recording five saves and a 3.86 ERA.
Thompson originally joined the Boomers in 2018 and appeared in 29 games during his first season with the club. He followed with a strong 2019 campaign, going 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA across 43 appearances.
Following his time in Schaumburg, Thompson reached Triple-A with the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2023 and 2024. He appeared in 54 games across the Triple-A and Double-A levels, including time with the Nashville Sounds and Biloxi Shuckers.
Most recently, Thompson pitched for Campeche in the Mexican League during the 2025 and 2026 seasons. He appeared in 44 games in 2026, posting a 3.92 ERA with five wins.
Thompson played collegiately at Shenandoah University, where he pitched for four seasons from 2013-16.
