Boomers Acquire Utility Player Kai Moody
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers have acquired utility player Kai Moody from the Tri-City ValleyCats, completing a previous trade that sent right-handed pitcher Wyatt Cameron to Tri-City earlier this season. The deal will also include a player to be named later from Schaumburg.
Moody joins the Boomers after appearing in 65 games for Tri-City this season. The versatile 26-year-old recorded 57 hits, including seven doubles, three triples and eight home runs, while driving in 44 runs and scoring 43 times. He also drew 44 walks and stole 19 bases.
Defensively, Moody brings versatility to the Boomers roster with experience at multiple positions. This season with Tri-City, he has appeared primarily at first base while also seeing time at second base, third base and across the outfield.
Prior to joining Tri-City, Moody spent the 2025 season with the Northern Colorado Owlz and Colorado Springs Sky Sox, combining to appear in 32 games. He totaled 28 hits, eight doubles, one triple and four home runs while driving in 13 runs.
Moody played collegiately at Cal State Northridge, where he appeared in 104 games over three seasons. He finished his collegiate career with a .310 batting average, 128 hits, 27 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 60 RBIs. Moody also stole 25 bases and posted a .389 on-base percentage.
Moody began his professional career in 2022 with the Walnut Creek Crawdads before later playing for the Ottawa Titans, Northern Colorado Owlz, Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Tri-City ValleyCats.
