Boomers Shut Out by Windy City
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers were shut out by the Windy City ThunderBolts on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a 6-0 defeat.
Windy City grabbed the lead four batters into the game on an RBI single from Jared Beebe. Windy City broke the game open with five runs in the second and held the Schaumburg bats at bay. The Boomers did not put the leadoff man on base until the eighth. Schaumburg managed just five hits in the loss. Two of the hits came from Alec Craig, who also walked in the contest. Schaumburg struck out 11 times in the defeat. Ross Thompson suffered the loss on the mound, allowing six runs (five earned) in five innings with three walks and three strikeouts. Rookie Kade Linn made his pro debut with three scoreless innings and Tom Vincent logged a scoreless ninth.
The Boomers (48-38) conclude the split series with Windy City at Wintrust Field on Thursday night at 6:30pm. It is Schaumburg Business Association Night. LHP Cole Cook (7-7, 4.49) is slated to make the start for the Boomers against LHP Isaac Milburn (3-3, 5.57) before the Boomers hit the road again.
