SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers opened a nine-game homestand with a 4-1 victory over the Evansville Otters, securing the 50th victory of the year. The win keeps Schaumburg two games ahead in the West Division with 11 games remaining.

The Boomers did not trail in taking the series and homestand opening victory. Alec Craig led off the game with a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and swiped third before crossing on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Fitzgerald. Evansville tied the game with a single run in the second but the Boomers scored three times with two outs to jump ahead 4-1. Cole Turney recorded an RBI single in the fourth. Fitzgerald notched an RBI single in the fifth and scored on a double from Anthony Calarco.

Ross Thompson became the fourth pitcher in franchise history to record double-digit wins, claiming his 10th victory of the season on the mound. Thompson allowed five hits early but surrendered just two baserunners in his final four innings, working six with six strikeouts. Kyle Moore and Caleb Riedel threw scoreless frames out of the bullpen. Darrell Thompson, activated before the game, struck out the side in the ninth to earn the save in his return to the team. The left-hander was making his first appearance with the Boomers since 2022.

The Boomers (50-41) continue the final homestand of the regular season on Wednesday night at 6:30pm on Pro Wrestling and Military Appreciation Night. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn will have a meet and greet on the concourse and there will be a postgame wrestling show. Additionally, all former or active military members can receive six complimentary tickets to the game. The night is presented by Residential Heating and Cooling.
