Boomers Fall in Pitcher's Duel

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers were denied an opportunity to sweep, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Evansville Otters in a pitcher’s duel at Wintrust Field on Thursday night.

Evansville grabbed the lead for the first time in the series with a two-out RBI single from Blake Robertson in the top of the first. The run was the only tally allowed by Schaumburg starter Cole Zaffiro, who struck out nine in six innings. Zaffiro has allowed just three runs in five August starts.
