WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers allowed the Washington Wild Things to score in the first three innings, opening the final series of the regular season with a 9-2 loss on the road in Pennsylvania. The Boomers remain a game up in the West Division after Windy City fell to Florence. THe magic number is at two with two to play.

The Boomers have been jumping ahead early in games but it was Washington who struck in the first, scoring four runs. The first run of the game was a record setting homer by Anthony Brocato, who led off the game with his 37th of the year to set the Frontier League’s single season record. Kellum Clark homered in the second to bring the Boomers within 4-1 but Washington hit two more homers, one in the second and one in the third, to open an 8-1 edge. Frontier League Pitcher of the Year Kobe Foster was lifted after five innings and the Boomers immediately took advantage with a run in the sixth. Anthony Calarco led off with a single and scored on a Banks Tolley double.

Derek Salata struck out six batters in four innings but suffered the loss. Jack Snyder was first out of the pen and sat down all six batters faced in two perfect frames, striking out three consecutive batters at one point. Tom Vincent and Kyle Moore also appeared on the hill. The pitching staff recorded 12 strikeouts in the loss. Seven of the nine batters in the order reached for the Boomers, who totaled six hits and three walks. Kai Moody posted two of the hits. The team was able to notch multiple baserunners just three times in the game and only once were multiple runners aboard at the same time.

The Boomers (55-45) continue the final series of the season in Pennsylvania on Saturday night at 6:05pm with RHP Ross Thompson (10-5, 4.77) on the mound against RHP Ben Kowalski (1-2, 6.06).
