SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers saw the 2026 season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to the Evansville Otters in game three of the Frontier League Wild Card Series on Saturday night, dropping the best-of-three series two-games-to-one. 

Evansville jumped out early, grabbing the lead behind an unearned run in the top of the first. Kai Moody tripled in the third with one away and scored on a groundout from Alec Craig to even the game. Anthony Calarco spanked a homer leading off the fourth to put the Boomers ahead 2-1. Calarco recorded two homers and two doubles in the series. The lead held until the seventh when Evansville was able to score a pair of runs. The go-ahead run scored on an opposite field single from Logan Brown, who hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning of game two. Schaumburg put the tying run on base in three consecutive innings but was unable to find a way to tie the game.

Cole Cook suffered the hard luck loss, working into the seventh. Cook allowed just two earned runs with a pair of walks and nine strikeouts. Five different individuals recorded hits for the Boomers in the defeat. Schaumburg also drew six walks.
