Calarco Sets Franchise Home Run Record

With a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning against New York on August 8, Anthony Calarco set the Schaumburg single-season record for homers with his 21st of the season. The record was previously held by Steve McQuail, who hit 20 homers in both 2012 and 2013. Calarco is having an MVP season and leads the league with 21 homers and 97 RBIs. The league record for RBIs is 100. The Wilmette, Ill. native, whose brother is also on the roster for the Boomers, additionally leads the league in total bases (187) and extra-base hits (45) while sitting second in doubles (24) and slugging percentage (.630) and third in hits (100) and at-bats (297). Of the record 21 homers, 13 have been hit at Wintrust Field. The record-setting homer was his first grand slam of the season. Calarco owns four solo homers, 13 two-run homers, and three three-run blasts in addition to the grand slam. The second-year member of the Boomers blasted a pair of homers in the same inning against Florence on July 3 during the highest scoring game in league history. Calarco played 43 games for the Boomers last year and hit nine longballs while driving home 43 runs.
