Boomers Re-Sign Right-Hander Ross Thompson

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers have re-signed right-handed pitcher Ross Thompson for the upcoming season, bringing back a familiar arm to the pitching staff.

Thompson, 27, joined the Boomers late in the 2025 season and appeared in 11 games out of the bullpen, tossing 30.2 innings. He provided valuable depth down the stretch while settling into a relief role for Schaumburg.

Overall in 2025, Thompson made 19 appearances in the Frontier League, going 2–1 with a 4.34 ERA across 47.2 innings while splitting time between Tri-City, Evansville, and Schaumburg.

Prior to beginning his professional career, Thompson pitched collegiately at Heidelberg University. Over five seasons, the right-hander appeared in 48 games, including 39 starts, compiling a 13–12 record with a 4.07 ERA across more than 245 innings.

Thompson returns to Schaumburg with Frontier League experience and familiarity with the organization as the Boomers continue assembling their pitching staff for the upcoming season.
