Boomers Sign Former MLB Draft Pick

 

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers have signed infielder Cole Turney for the upcoming season.

A native of Richmond, Texas, Turney brings experience from both the collegiate and professional levels. During his time at Cumberland University in 2023, the left-handed hitter batted .521 with 32 home runs, nine doubles, and 79 RBIs in 45 games while posting a 1.960 OPS.

Turney later played in the Detroit Tigers organization, appearing in 42 minor league games across three seasons. During that span, he recorded a .342 batting average with a .449 on-base percentage and a .591 slugging percentage.

Turney was originally selected in the 34th round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of William B. Travis High School in Richmond, Texas.

The Boomers continue to finalize their roster as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
