Trio Returning to Schaumburg for 2024

The 4-time Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers and Manager Jamie Bennett are excited to announce the re-signing of three members of the 2023 Boomers. Infielders Travis Holt, Will Prater, and Kyle Fitzgerald make their way back to Wintrust Field this summer.

"We are very excited to have these 3 guys back with us. All of these guys contributed as rookies last season and we expect them to serve an even bigger role in 2024", said Manager Jamie Bennett.

Travis Holt returns to the team after appearing in 67 games for the Boomers last season. In those games, Travis batted .246 while driving in 27 runs. He also walked 32 times and swiped 8 bases. Travis spent most of his time at third base last season with a fielding percentage on 94.4% and amassing 99 assists. Prior to his time with the Boomers, Holt, a native of Plantation, FL, played colliegately at High Point University for four seasons before playing his final season at Butler University. Travis brings stability to the hot corner this season in a loaded infield.

Another piece to the infield for the 2024 season returns in Will Prater. Prater appeared in 65 games during the 2023 season. Over the course of the season, Prater batted .312 while driving in 37 runs. He also stole 14 bases and had an OBP of .368. Will, a Dallas, GA native, had a fielding percentage of 93.4 percent splitting time all over the infield during the 2023 season. Prater came to Schaumburg last season after playing and graduating from Western Carolina. During his time in college, Will drove in 116 runs and hitting 12 triples. Just like Travis, Will will be a vital piece to the Boomers infield in 2024.

Kyle Fitzgerald makes his way back to Wintrust Field after a great start to his career. Fitzgerald hit .230 with 10 home runs and drove in 56 runs. Fitzgerald made an appearance in 73 games for the Boomers mainly in the infield. Kyle, a Brookfield, IL native, compiled a fielding percentage of 99.5% with only 2 errors on the season. Kyle did make 4 appearances on the mound for the Boomers striking out 1 batter over his 4 innings. He finished the 2023 season with a 4.50 ERA. Prior to his time in Schaumburg, Kyle played his college baseball at St. Louis University.
