Boomers Re-Sign Craig for 2024

The Schaumburg Boomers are thrilled to announce the re-signing of INF Alec Craig to a contract extension for the 2024 season. Alec Craig has been a staple in Schaumburg since the 2021 season.

Craig returns to Wintrust Field for his 4th season in Schaumburg after another productive season at the plate and in the field. Craig, a native of Sicklerville, NJ, played in 95 games for the Boomers batting .249 while driving in 40 runs. Craig has a keen eye at the plate and great discipline resulting in a staggering 84 walks, just 8 shy of his Frontier League record of 92 last season. Those walks and consistent hitting gave him an average on base percentage of .411. Once Alec got on base, he stole 32 bases in 39 attempts as well. Over the course of his three years in Schaumburg, Alec has hit 15 homeruns with 112 RBI’s and 105 stolen bases. The stat that separates Alec from the rest of the league is that in 3 seasons, Alec has walked 252 times. Prior to his time in Schaumburg, Craig spent a season with the twins Rookie League team in 2019. Alec played college baseball for the Chestnut Hill College Griffins, where he played in 172 games, driving in 95 runs and not surprisingly walking 98 times. Alec looks to be the veteran presence in the clubhouse and on the field as we head into the 2024 season.

“ Can’t say enough positive things about what Alec Craig brings to the table. A consistent player that shows up to play everyday. Starting everyday for 2 straight seasons says a lot about a guys ability and love of the game. He’s a great asset for us on the field and in the clubhouse and I’m very glad to have Alec back with us" said Manager Jamie Bennett.
