SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers are now taking submissions via YouTube for those interested in entering the two-part contest to become voice of Boomers Stadium during the Inaugural Season of Boomers Baseball.

The Boomers will begin accepting online submissions immediately for the first phase of the contest (see below). After reviewing the entries, which will close on Wednesday, April 25 at 5 p.m., the Boomers will invite 10 finalists to Boomers Stadium located at 1999 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg to audition for Boomers staff and fans at a free event open to the public on Saturday, April 28.

The Public Address Announcer is the primary voice for the Schaumburg Boomers at all 48 home games, and will work closely with the Boomers front office staff and onfield emcee to create a memorable experience for each and every fan through the gates at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium. 

The Boomers are looking for a strong vocal talent with excellent enunciation skills, strong public speaking skills and the ability to speak extemporaneously to large crowds. Those interested in entering must be prepared to work at all 48 Boomers regular season home games and any playoff games.

 

TO ENTER: In order to be in the top 10, every candidate must submit a 30 second YouTube video or mp3 audio file to Dave Salvi, Boomers VP of Marketing and Promotions. Candidates are required to either send a link to the video on YouTube or attach the mp3 audio file in an email message to [email protected].

Please read the following copy as if announcing in a game:

Fan interaction - “Boomers fans, on your feet for the 9th inning!  Here comes the Boom!”

Stadium rules - “Fans, please refrain from entering the playing field during the game. In doing so, you risk ejection from the ballpark and possible arrest. As a reminder, all fans will be able to run the bases after the game. Patience pays off at Boomers Stadium.”

Player introduction – “Now batting for your Boomers, the third baseman, number 1, Dave Salvi!”

All submissions must be received at by Wednesday, April 25 at 5 p.m. in order to be considered. The 10 finalists will audition at Boomers Stadium on Saturday, April 28 in a free event designed to test voice projection, tone, pronunciation, improvisation skills and general feel for the position. The Boomers will also seek a backup PA Announcer for scheduling issues or unforeseen circumstances.

Stop by the Boomers Open House on Saturday, April 7 for your first-chance to purchase single-game tickets and meet the Boomers front office staff. There will be a free Easter Egg Hunt, free food from Levy Restaurants and stadium tours as well.
